But that&#8217;s exactly what&#8217;s delivered in this recipe, created by Liv Langdon, founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livoutloud.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liv Lang &amp; Prosper<\/a>, and a Born Fitness meal prep specialist.<\/p>\n<p>On the nutrition side,\u00a0Brussels sprouts are loaded with\u00a0fiber, are a great source of the B vitamins, and contain glucosinolates, which show promise in fighting cancer.\u00a0Need another reason? One word for you: bacon.\u00a0We use turkey bacon in this version, but the original stuff works just as well.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>2-lb bag of Brussels sprouts<\/li>\n<li>1 apple (I used Fuji here)<\/li>\n<li>3 slices turkey bacon, nitrate free and uncured (feel free to substitute if vegetarian)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup slivered almonds<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil,<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tsp Himalayan sea salt<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc tsp pepper<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tsp garlic powder<strong style=\"font-size: 1.125rem; letter-spacing: 0.04rem;\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2912\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2912\" style=\"width: 898px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/apple-bacon-brussels.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2912 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bornfitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/apple-bacon-brussels.png\" alt=\"Because anything with bacon can be delicious. \" width=\"898\" height=\"673\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2912\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Because anything with bacon can be delicious.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Directions<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Trim the Brussels sprouts and cut into halves. Make sure to wash them first.<\/li>\n<li>Slice the apples and turkey bacon into small chunks. The shapes and size of the chunks don\u2019t matter; just have fun with it.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, combine the chopped Brussels sprouts, the sliced apples and sliced bacon, olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. Toss until fully coated.<\/li>\n<li>On a baking tray, spread Brussels sprout mixture flat.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 35-40 minutes until the Brussels sprouts are brown, crisp and tender.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the oven and sprinkle the almond slivers on top. Bake for another five minutes until the almonds are lightly toasted brown.<\/li>\n<li>Serve warm as a side dish.
